Alive Downtown Project Begins on Monday

Chamber Connections

March 2010  Grandview, WA

The much anticipated Alive Downtown project begins Phase 1 construction on Monday March 15th and your Grandview Chamber is fully engaged in this vital project. We are providing support to our community by dedicating an entire section of our website to ongoing communication about the project and weekly updates on progress.

The Grandview Chamber will have representation at each of the weekly construction schedule meetings and report on progress directly on our website . We started this process back in February in anticipation of the project kickoff. We have included a full color map of the Alive Downtown project phases, a construction schedule identifying the work scheduled the next two-week period, information about the project and funding sources, and a means to communicate with the project team.

We are also taking pictures of the project from several specific vantage points throughout the revitalization zone on at least a weekly basis. By the end of the project in the fall of this year, we will have a very comprehensive image journal of the transformation to share with our community and our potential visitors.

Beginning on Monday, the planters and planting containers in the construction area will be removed and relocated out to Country Park. Over the next two weeks, concrete cutting will take place to prepare areas in all 4 phases for demolition. Overhead lighting will be removed in areas of Phase 1 and the demolition of 4th Street will begin in order to complete supplemental parking for the downtown core, followed by the area on 3rd Street. The most visible of the work will begin on Wine Country Road and the 100 block of Division over the next two weeks. Construction zone signage has already been posted and street closures posted.

An exciting time begins for Grandview this week and your Grandview Chamber is proud serve our community by providing access to the project information. For more information on how to join the Grandview Chamber, please visit www.visitgrandview.org or email us at info@visitgrandview.org.
