Cocoa and Carols
December 4th at Stokely Square Park
It was a chilly night filled with anticipation as children from Grandview awaited the arrival of Santa Claus. Gathered with their families and friends, they shared hot cocoa and sang Christmas carols in Stokely Square park. Following a wonderful reading of “The Night Before Christmas” by City Council Member Jan McDonald, who should appear, but jolly old St Nicholas and over 300 horse power (provided by the Grandview Police Department’s patrol car and piloted by Sargent David Palacios).
Children swarmed Santa as he arose from his flashy ride with a bag of good cheer and handed out red and white candy canes provided by community donations. A beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the gazebo provided a sparkling backdrop for the evening’s events and Santa’s arrival.
For all of you who braved the cold, we thank you for sharing this night with us. Dozens of homemade cookies and gallons of hot cocoa, all donated by Chamber of Commerce and Rotary members, were enjoyed by everyone in attendance. It’s wonderful to see such a great turn out here in Grandview as we begin our next 100 years! Happy Holidays Everyone!
