Great Grandview Grape Stomp
Calling All Grape Stompers
Team entry applications will soon be accepted for the Great Grandview Grape Stomp 2010. The event will take place on a Saturday in September. We are attempting to synchronize our event date to coincide with other 2010 Catch the Crush events with our anticipated event date on the 11th of September 2010.
Yakima Valley Community College will host this year’s Grandview Grape Stomp on the Grandview Campus located at 500 West Main Street. There is a limit for the number of teams, so get your registration in early. Registration will be available online in April 2010.
The Great Grandview Grape Stomp revives a long-time European tradition. Each year, townspeople from small communities gather together at harvest to celebrate and to help crush the grapes. Contestants in this updated version will hop into wooden wine barrels and stomp furiously, using their bare feet to turn 30 pounds of fresh grapes into juice.
The Great Grandview Grape Stomp will begin at 1:00 p.m. A variety of activities will be featured for the whole family. There will be food and arts & crafts vendors, and activities for the kids.
