Grandview Library Project
The joint city/college library project is a partnership between the city of Grandview and Yakima Valley Community College (YVCC) to jointly construct and manage a public library that will serve the residents of Grandview and enrolled students at the YVCC Grandview Campus. The city and college have been working together since 2007 to make this dream a reality. The total cost for the project is $4 million. The Washington State Legislature allocated $2 million towards construction of the library on the condition that YVCC and the city of Grandview raised another $2 million by June 30, 2009. Donations to the library project came from many local citizens, businesses and corporations as well as a $600,000 grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). All donations were raised by the deadline. A ground breaking ceremony for the library was held on Oct. 22, 2010 and the library is scheduled to be completed in August 2011.
In the mean time enjoy these images of the project as it progresses.
